We deal with a reflection on the place of literature in the elaboration of psychoanalytic knowledge. The objective is to outline its fundamental importance in this process, beginning with the acknowledgement of what the literary writings impose as necessary to Freud, occupying basic locus in the continuing journey of the formation of the analyst. We consider that the echoes of the effects that literature caused constitute raw materials for the production of psychoanalytic knowledge, characterizing a unique style of writing, which is inseparable from the modes of transmission of psychoanalysis. In this article, we highlight the place of Freud as an author and the transfer of his style as an important factor of affiliation on the road to forming an analyst. We also emphasize the writing of and about clinical experience and the interesting question of the writer-analyst.
