This work focuses the postpartum depression, a humor disturbance of the moderate to severe degree, of multifactorial character, identified clinically as a depressive episode, beginning inside of six weeks after the childbirth. Doctors, nurses and psychologists must be apt to take care of parturient to prevent trauma for the mother, children and involved families, also preventing episodes of suicide and infanticide. The postpartum depression take 15-20% of the women, but greatest part of the mothers that had suffered and/or suffer this disturbance do not look aid for this affective problem, or prefers to use the totality of the medical cares for the babies and not does himself. The used methodology for development of this work includes careful bibliographical search in books and papers that focus the problem.
