Abstract

COUTO, Luís Flávio  and  CECCARELLI, Paulo Roberto. O gozo extático do expectador de uma cena perversa. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2004, vol.4, n.2, pp. 266-276. ISSN 1518-6148.

The problem of the ecstatic enjoyment (jouissance), central and traumatic point of the one who sees himself/herself facing the perverse scene, deserves special attention. It's a state aroused by unchaining, in a subject, a certain kind of experiment, in the real, followed by motion paralysis impregnated of fear that leaves this subject both perplexed and fascinated before the perverse scene, which he/she is unable of getting rid of. The aim of this research is to try to establish the elements that match this point of enjoyment (jouissance) in the ecstatic state and the child experience in which a point was awaken in this very child by the other. Based on this, the authors' working hypothesis is the one of a "knowing how to enjoy" of the perverse. According to this hypothesis, the perverse would be able to detect the kind of action that produces, in the other who witnesses the scene, horror. And that is what makes he/she enjoy. The perverse knows how to awake such an ecstatic point that leaves the other totally helpless and petrified. To the perverse subject, who enjoys producing horror, what he provokes reinforces his/her sensation of having nothing to limit him/her. This only strengthens his/her sensation of power. In this sense, we can say that the subject finds him/herself subdued to the other, no doubt repeating an archaic experience of encounter to otherness. It is important to stress that we are not talking about "static" (still, immobile), but rather of a term to describe a mortal limit. This term is very close to the word "ecstasy", from the Latin word "extase".
