IORIO, André Luiz. Psicopatologia e pós-estruturalismo: convivendo com novas problemáticas. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2005, vol.5, n.2, pp. 361-381. ISSN 1518-6148.

The author makes an analysis of psychopathology as an academic discipline, facing the epistemological changes related to post-structuralism. He begins initially discriminating the philosophical concept of structure, in order to conceptualize structuralism. He placed it as an academic movement characterized by the opposition against three branches: idealism, historicism, and humanism. Then, he describes its process of decline, considering the difficulties and controversies regarding to the conceptualization of post-modernity. He emphasizes the emergence of the knew issues, specially the search into a new point of view concerning the concept of subject on the conscious/unconscious dichotomy, far from a strict causal determinism from the unconscious, what does not implicate that it shouldn't be taken in consideration at all, but also far from the Cartesian concept of subject, considered omnipotent and lacking otherness. The author emphasizes also the systemic paradigm, the pragmatic notion of irrepresentationalism, the proposals of fundamental psychopathology, and finally, contemporary hermeneutics and the revalued worth on the comprehensive focus in psychopathology. In relation to the systemic paradigm, the author points out the change on the observer-system observed dichotomy, and the idea of a co-construction of knowledge in a collaborative action between clinicians. In relation to the notion of irrepresentationalism, he comments the idea concerning the lack of equivalence between representation and truth. In relation to fundamental psychopathology, he emphasizes the ideas of Pierre Fedida about an inter-scientific project in psychopathology. Last but not least, the author also emphasizes contemporary hermeneutics, around Heidegger and Gadamer, trying to make a correlation to its clinical implications in psychiatric and psychology nowadays.
