This paper aims at examining a meaningful feature of psychoanalytic clinic nowadays: the increase of the phenomenon of acting in adolescent subjects. In order to accomplish this investigation, we start from a short study of the role of the body in adolescence. This study serves as a basis for a thought about the issue of "narcissistic transactions" and the revival of the situation of helplessness, peculiar to the subjective experience that marks the passage from infancy to adult life.Analyzing many angles in this issue, the Authors try to show that an occasional appeal to the body in the form of an acting has the character of a response, extreme response, to which the ego may appeal in face of an inner experience of drive overflow, associated to a state of narcissistic frailty. These features with their metapsychological nature are articulated to certain peculiarities of the context in which the western adolescent lives, in an attempt at understanding the relationship between subjectivity and culture, and its role in a psychoanalytic inquiry about the psychopathology of adolescence.
