Abstract

From the preliminaries results of the IRDI research, which point a great number of symptoms related with failure of the paternal function, like the absence of limitations, separation difficulties and motor agitation, this paper discusses the cultural changes that the high modernity causes. It analyses how the objects inflation, the prevalence of the images and the symbolic failure cause challenges in the contemporary family by an inversion in the relationships, with the child in the place of master in her rapport with the surrounding adults. It is question if the family will assure its function of the culture transmission and the clinics symptoms of the actuality, same so the role of the psychoanalytical discourse about this point.
