Abstract

The present article has the objective of analyze, in the essential lines, two speeches used by Freud in the interpretation from the religious phenomena. The first one is inspired in the illuminist ideology, which dominated the Germanic academic world in the second half of the XIX century, and has a clearly scientificist tonality; the other one interprets, with the psychoanalytic theory perspective, the psychic motivations from the religious experience. Both speeches aid a better understanding of ambivalent position by Freud in front of the religion.
