Abstract

ROSA, Márcia. Antonin Artaud: de poeta do teatro da crueldade a tradutor. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.2, pp. 435-457. ISSN 1518-6148.

This article presents the route of Antonin Artaud since his first attempts to treat the jouissance through the theater of cruelty and through a procedure of madness of the subjetil-language, the subjetil- body and the subjetil-subject, movements that ended up mortifying him and taking him to silence, until his encounter with the work of translation, by which Jean Michel Rey, in his book "La naissance de la poesie: Antonin Artaud" (1991), shows that Artaud breaks the mortifying silence and finds some legibility which favors his re-establishment of a social link. In this sense, the translations appear in his role as a suppleance. In order to better enlight these issues, the article considers the discussion proposed by Jacques Derrida, in his articles "The word whispered" (1965) and "The theater of cruelty and the closure of representation" (1966), in which he discusses the inadequacy of the critical or even clinical comments, once they are based on the idea of exemplary. When it comes to Artaud, which never accepted the idea of a thought separated from life, which never accepted a separation between life and work, this is evident. When the clinical comments dominate, the author's psyche and life are taken as central and if the dominant is the critical readings it is the tex,t rather than subject, which comes first.

Keywords : Artaud; theater; translation; criticism; clinic.
