Abstract

JANUARIO, Lívia Milhomem  and  TAFURI, Maria Izabel. O sofrimento psíquico grave e a clínica com crianças. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.2, pp. 527-550. ISSN 1518-6148.

This article focuses on the serious psychic suffering in the clinic with children by using psychoanalysis as a theoretical reference point. Initially, the use of the term serious psychic suffering is justified, some difficulties and problems of the psychiatric classification are exposed, than a critic of reductionist and organicist approaches that predict negatively the future of the child - exposing him/her to a possibility of being frozen in labels - and the parents is carried out. Thus, instead of opening the way for the therapeutic process, the diagnostic evaluation ends up closing and concluding. In the second part of this article, Melanie Klein's paradigm about the applicability and efficiency of the psychoanalytical method with children in serious psychic suffering and Kanner's paradox regarding the inadequate using of the autism term are set out. Finally, some contributions to psychoanalysis are pointed out and also the adoption of a clinical posture based on listening the individual beyond the pathology and the symptoms, thinking the child as a being with his/her own particularities in which his/her way of being isn't bond only to the psychopathology, but above all to the psychic constitution. Along that attitude, the analyst opens the clinical experience to be founded on taking in, spontaneity and creativity.
