Abstract

PRADO, Rafael Auler de Almeida; CALDAS, Marcus Tulio  and  BARRETO, Carmem Lúcia Brito Tavares. Expanding the possibilities of psychological comprehension in clinical practice in public health from bachelard's poetic imagination. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.1, pp. 205-240. The increasing integration of the psychologist in public health has brought some issues, such as the inadequacy of their traditional practices to the activities in this area. This study aimed to propose new possibilities of psychological comprehension for clinical practice in the public health, using bibliographical research, theoretical thinking and case studies. Considering the psychology by its modular and rationalist models, traditionally focused on the elite, we should not be surprised by the difficulties of psychologists in this service, whose main clientele is low income and is not familiarized to the academic intellectual thought. Public service, moreover, must be prepared to attend diversified clients in terms of socioeconomic aspect and cultural references. The novelty of the of this clinical practice method, inspired by the poetics, concerns the language, the way of being, listening and meeting that could allow the openness of understanding to any patient of any socio-cultural class. It is not the proposition of a new psychotherapeutic technique directed to a particular social class, which we consider the same impasse we want to provide an overtaking. Our thinking, therefore, is motivated by psychological practice in the public service, sought new language conception to expand the psychological understanding and indicated that such understanding can serve the psychological action in general and not only to the specific scope of public health.
