Abstract

LOPES, Tanja Joy Schöner  and  BERNARDINO, Leda Mariza Fischer. The subject in constitution, the play and the problem of desire in modernity. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.1, pp. 369-395. ISSN 1518-6148.

This paper discusses the using of toys in the actuality and the role of toys in the subject organization. To this, it treats the subject constitution process, the several psychic operations involved and the function of the object in childhood. In a time where "having" has become insignia of "being", rules an attempt of finding within the objects the capacity of pacifying our unquiet ness, our uneasiness in front of the lack, which Freud already described as inherent of civilization. It is about a failed attempt of finding the happiness of completeness in the excess of objects, inclusively toys. However, the object for the drive, for the desire, is the lack of object. We are moved by our drives, our desires, not by our necessities, our objects. Psychoanalytically speaking, the object is the lack of object. There is a fault in the mourning of the object, there is an anxiety of the emptiness, a prevalence of an imaginary position that difficult the coming across the lack and consequently the desire. One can conclude that the human question does not deal with the proper object relation, but with the problem of desire. Desire as enigma for each one and does not get satisfied with objects. Desire that has its field regulated by fantasy, which failure of its function is characteristic of the universe of children today. There are so many toys but few possibilities of playing.
