BOLSSON, Juliana Zinelli  y  BENETTI, Silvia Pereira da Cruz. Manifestations of anxiety and the symptom in childhood: psychoanalytic considerations. Rev. Mal-Estar Subj. [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.2, pp. 555-589. ISSN 1518-6148.

Since first Freudian theoretical contributions on subject's psychic constitution, we observed that the childhood period has occupied a prominent place as one of the key moments in the development and structuring of the psychic apparatus. This article aims a theoretical understanding of anguish manifestations and symptoms in children based on a psychoanalytic perspective. Accordingly, we present a review of the concepts of anguish and the Oedipus complex in Freudian psychoanalytic view and in pos-Freudian psychoanalysts such as Freud, Lacan and Zornig. We highlight the relationship between symptom in infancy and children's psychic constitution linked to parental functions, based on complex relations and family conflicts that take place in order to understand the aspects of parenting involved in these functions. Based on these studies, we discuss the ramifications of the issues of anguish related to the object "a" and the symptom in childhood from the point of view of family structure. Thus, we discuss the anguish expressed in the child both in a transitory moment and in a more Oedipal time, pointing the mode related to infantile neurosis. In short, we found that the stages involving the manifestations of anguish and relationship with the symptom are, undoubtedly, essential processes for child psychoanalysis and also for the investigation of the elements involved in these processes.
