Abstract

HIROTA, Vinicius Barroso et al. Instrument motivation application in disabled boccia athletes: a pilot study. Cad. Pós-Grad. Distúrb. Desenvolv. [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.2, pp. 08-15. ISSN 1519-0307.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/1809-4139.20160002.

The aim of this study was to test the TEOSQ motivation scale in athletes practicing the sport of boccia. Through a qualitative research in the study 21 subjects with tetraplegia (mean age 30.67±10.18 years) of both genders who practice boccia for more than four years. The TEOSQ has 13 questions Likert five points. It tested the internal validity of the instrument (Alpha coefficients) according to the two areas proposed by TEOSQ (ego orientation and task orientation). The results showed the internal stability of the instrument with alpha of 0.85 and 0.71, with an average of 3.33 (±1.21) and 4.74 (±0.52) respectively to ego and task orientation. We conclude that the tested instrument performed well in internal consistency and in boccia, athletes have prevalent attributes guidance in task, with features to be more self-controlled and self-determined.
