Parent-Infant Psychotherapy (PIP) has the objective of modifying the eventual pathological representations of the parents regarding the baby and it has been highly used on the treatment of the disturbs present on those relationships. In this study participated a family composed by a couple and their baby. The mother exhibited indicators of depression, the baby, psycho functional symptoms and the couple has difficulties on their relationship. They went through 16 sessions of PIP. In this way, this study has the objective of verifying the eventual modifications of the representation of the parents regarding the baby, as so presenting the cases of one family assisted with the PIP. The results revealed improvement on the depressive state of the mother and on they relationship of the couple, decrement of the psycho functional symptoms of the baby and modification on the maternal representation. Furthermore, it is possible to reflect that the Parent-Infant Psychotherapy, on the studied case, had an important role of prevention and promoting awareness on the matter of mental health-care for the baby and its family.
