BACKGROUND: The Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating neurological disease of the central nervous system that mainly affects young women. One of its main symptoms is muscular fatigue which can affect the quality of life of the individual. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the prevalence of fatigue in patients, accompanied by the Bahia State Center, in order to identify the frequent characteristics, associating with the individual's functional disability, understanding better about fatigue and associations with functional incapacity, creating a rationale for treatment. METHODS: The present study consists of a preliminary cross-sectional descriptive study. The convenience sample consisted of 26 patients diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis enrolled in the outpatient clinic, who provided their socio-demographic data and answered fatigue scales (MFIS) and functional disability (EDSS). RESULTS: of the 26 patients, 23 women (88.46%) and three men (11.54%), with a mean age of 41.48 years, mean disease time was 6.4 years. 66.7% of the patients presented fatigue, the mean of the MFIS was 48, and in the functional disability an average of 3.27 was found in the EDSS. CONCLUSION: There was an increased prevalence of fatigue and functional disability in the population.
