Abstract

BRESSAN, Raieli Ciscato; SILVA, Ana Nathália Eduarda Farias da; KURTZ, Isadora Gastaldo  and  SMEHA, Luciane Najar. Health care reverbarations in the construction of the Down's syndrome baby-mother bond. Cad. Pós-Grad. Distúrb. Desenvolv. [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.2, pp. 43-55. It was sought with this study, to know the questions which involve the construction of the mother-infant with Down Syndrome bonding and, besides, that, to discuss the influence of health professionals in this motherly experience. A qualitative research with the participation of eight mothers of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome was carried out. The data were collected through a semi-structured individual interview. The obtained material underwent a discursive textual analysis. In most situations they were perceived as facilitators of the motherly experience, in the construction of the bonding, in the mourning process and as part of the support network. However, in some motherly experiences, the health agent was the destabilizing agent, especially when the agent did not provide information on the condition of the baby or did not make available the technical or affective support to the family.

Keywords : Down syndrome; bonding; motherhood; health professional.
