Stroke is one of the leading causes of acquired brain injury in children and can cause various motor disorders. Objective: To verify, through a literature review, the effects of physical therapy treatment in children with stroke. Methodology: Integrative literature review. We included articles published in the PubMed, Lilacs, SciELO, Medline, Google Scholar and PEDro databases, in the English and Portuguese languages, from 2007 to 2017. We excluded articles in which the sample was composed of adults and/or the motor disorders were due to other pathologies. Twenty one articles were selected and six were used, which met the established criteria. Physiotherapy has been shown to improve muscle tone, muscle strength, balance and motor function in children with stroke, through the use of conventional physiotherapy, restriction therapy and induction of movement, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. It was suggested, from this literature review, that physiotherapy may be indicated in the treatment of children who had stroke. It should be noted, however, that this topic is little explored in the literature, and additional studies are needed to demonstrate the efficacy of techniques and physiotherapeutic resources in the long term.
