Clinical manifestations, caused by Down syndrome, require the intervention of different health professionals. Its performance is essential for the development of the child and to alleviate the distress of the maternal experience. Thus, the presence of professionals involved in the birth of a disabled child reverberates in the establishment of the mother-baby bond. The objective of this study was to know the perception of these professionals in relation to their contribution to the construction of the mother-baby bond. This is a qualitative research, in which ten professionals from the health area participated. Data collection was done through an individual semi-structured interview. Afterwards, the data were submitted to qualitative textual analysis. The results showed that health professionals, for the most part, are aware of their importance in developing a good bond between the mother and her baby. Among the important actions, we highlight the strengthening of the mother's autonomy and security in the face of special care needs. It is emphasized that the professionals involved in the care, during the first months, play a primordial role in favor of the mother-baby bond. In addition, they need to operate as a significant support network for the mother and other family members.
