Abstract

BERNARDES, Anita; PELLICCIOLI, Eduardo  and  GUARESCHI, Neuza. Public health: Brazil publicization. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.17, pp. 11-24. ISSN 2175-1390.

This article aims at problematizing the public in the articulation with the constitution of the public health field in Brazil. It is a genealogy of public regarding the ways through which public approximates the health field and the forms of subjectivation produced in that articulation. The emergence of this field has its conditions of possibility in the formulation of public as a modernity device. In order to construct this discussion, some historical-political lines have been used, referring to public health in Brazil. Such strategies subsidize understanding the public health field as a territory of the other, that other which is disaffiliated to the private, the other that expresses the mode of existence of a certain historical formation that publicizes what escapes from it.

Keywords : Device; Public; Public health; Forms of subjectivation; Modernity.
