Abstract

COELHO, Raquel Nascimento  and  AQUINO, Cássio Adriano Braz de. Labor insertion, youth and precarization. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.18, pp. 275-289. ISSN 2175-1390.

The text aims at analyzing the effects of the new productive organization that affect some groups, in particular young people. Taking youth as a transitional stage to adulthood and work as a privileged place in this transition, we reflect on the interaction between labor insertion and precarization processes that characterizes the youth participation in the context of contemporary work. By articulating a brief theoretical reflection and research data carried out with young people, we discussed the idea that labor insertion, precarization and youth are inseparable. In the face of a disposition to “naturalize” this relationship, we defend the understanding of the mechanisms that lead to an overrun of essentialism and allow us to think about alternatives for this tendency.

Keywords : Labor insertion; Precarization; Youth; Work; Transition.
