In the contemporary world, the employment is no longer central in the organization of work, kinds of precarious work appeared and the unemployment increased significantly, what has turned it in a psychosocial phenomenon also relevant now. The goals of this article were: analyze the phenomenon of unemployment in its psychosocial dimension, and reflect on the possibilities of the Social Psychology of Work acting in the current world of work, marked by micro-strategies. The main findings have pointed out that Psychology can contribute by four ways: (1) building a psychosocial understanding of unemployment (theoretical level), (2) integrating teams that build public policies of work for the expansion of their strategies (political level), (3) taking part of the teams that put in action the policies that deal with unemployment (program level), (4) helping people unemployed with strategies aimed at developing and implementing a life project at work (action level).
