The conflicts between nurses and doctors in the hospitals are sources of suffering for both the professions. Organizational conflicts have peculiarity characteristic in hospital environments. The objective of this article is to evaluate the origins and forms assumed for the conflict, in public and private hospitals, under theoretical perspective of the politics. The research (qualitative) left of two points, the existence of the conflict between the professionals, and the understand of the conflict as dispute for the power. With interviews and questionnaires we raise elements on the choices of the professions of nurse and doctor and of the standard of relationship between both. Of agreement with the interviews, analyzed to the literature and the experience in the hospitals, the symbolic representations of the professions, the differences of gendre and social origin are part of the origin of the conflicts, are in the genealogy of the disputes for the power.
