Abstract

ROSA, Miriam Debieux  and  VICENTIN, Maria Cristina. The untreatable: the exile of adolescents from social bonds through the notions of dangerousness and irrecoverability. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2010, vol.10, n.19, pp. 107-124. ISSN 2175-1390.

This work discusses hegemonic modes of socially managing the risks that poor youth pose to social order, or, more particularly, the strategy of pathologization. It analyzes the current tension between the theoretical and political stances and between the health and the legal discourses. It proposes eliminating the approach to violence arising from the discourse of social defense in favor of an ethical-political interdisciplinary practice that enables listening to young people and founding their new place in the social field. Drawing on psychoanalysis and institutional analysis, we address the guiding principles of the medical-juridical notions contained in the diagnosis of antisocial disturbance that characterize adolescents as dangerous and untreatable, irrecoverable, and which promote their exile from social bonds, and propose another perspective to analyze adolescence, act and violence.

Keywords : Adolescents in conflict with Law; Dangerousness; Irrecoverability; Psychoanalysis; Institutional analysis.
