The aim of this article is to address the psychoanalytic notion of sexuation as a central movement of the clinic with adolescents. To that end, we highlight the impasses of the Freudian propositions about hysterical bisexuality. These impasses caused difficulties in the approaches to adolescents’ movements toward the choice of object, the sexual identification and the constitution of clinical structures. To that end, the article highlights Lacan’s return to the bases of Freud’s clinical language, in which sex affirmation presents itself as a performative act. This reading is proposed as a solutionto the ideological impasses that this topic has brought to the history of psychoanalysis.
