Resumen

MELLO, Suely Amaral. Teaching and learning the written language from the cultural-historical approach. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2010, vol.10, n.20, pp. 329-343. ISSN 2175-1390.

In this paper, considering the historic-cultural psychology research method and its conception on the formation and development of human psyche, I aim to discuss about the personal sense that human beings relate to their learning conditioned by the relations they establish with the object being appropriated. Such relation is mediated by the experiences lived along life and points out the unity affection-cognition. Considering that writing is a complex cultural instrument, and also considering that people’s access to mankind cultural heritage depends mostly on reading and writing - which is essential for reproducing the human qualities in every human being -, I draw a brief discussion about the risks of writing appropriation when the personal sense of the student is directed from outside the writing social function. I also briefly consider the possibilities of teaching and learning the written language on the basis of adequate conditions for its effective appropriation.

Palabras clave : Written language; Personal sense; Historic-cultural theory.
