Abstract

FARIAS FILHO, Milton Cordeiro. Mapping political elites in amazonian regions. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.21, pp. 29-44. ISSN 2175-1390.

The article begins with the theory of elites, using the classic and contemporary authors, developing theoretical and methodological outlines for the identification of political groups in five regions of the state of Pará (eastern portion of the Brazilian Amazon). This article constructs a characterization of regional elites, by combining methodological aspects (methods of position and reputation) and the socioeconomic dynamics and spatial regional dimensions to demonstrate the need for demarcation of the combination of political elites. Using secondary data, openended interviews and questionnaires, the results generated a profile of the elite from a ranking of names concluding that such elites are dependent on natural resources and its relations with the state government sectors.

Keywords : Political elites; Region; Location; Reputation; Decision.
