This article intends to articulate some reflections over the body, the gender and the language from the film Madame Satã using documental analysis techniques. It focuses on the main character of the film and it analyzes the process of identity transformation: from João Francisco to Madame Satã. The author utilizes as discourse analysis methodology and analyzes the material starting from the codification and transcription of the film´s scenes. Four categories that were found are shown and discussed: the male, the muse, the transvestite and the outcast. Based on the main character, it was concluded that bodies and discourses are connected, producing identities that mismatch from the heteronormative matrix.
