This paper proposes talk about affirmative action in public university in Brazil, analyzing, centrally, the policies of permanence, as the debate about democratization of access has been the main theme in the discussion of social and racial quotas in university. This centrality nonetheless recognize the importance of the debate about affirmative action as a policy of democratizing access to higher education, as well as workspaces, remains as it is marked by several controversies and very different positions. However, we found that many of the objections made to affirmative action in university places as a problem of implementation, the mishaps that can influence the academic trajectories of students covered by the policies of quotas and the decline in quality of higher education, understood by many as a risk due to the democratization of access through these policies. After a brief background of affirmative action in Brazil, we analyze aspects of the trajectories of black students and classes in public universities and then introduce elements that we consider relevant to developing a policy to permanence successful in higher education of those students who excel logical assistance and walk towards the promotion of social justice.
