Abstract

ANSARA, Soraia. Politics of memory X politics of oblivion: possibilities of deconstruction of the colonial matrix. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.24, pp. 297-311. ISSN 2175-1390.

In this paper, we point out, from the studies on Memory politics of the military dictatorship in Brazil, that the official memory has been a powerful tool for keeping the imaginary of colonialism by the official discourse that tries to sink certain political events into oblivion. By using the concept of coloniality of power, by Quijano (2002; 2005) and the concept of dissent, defended by Ranciére (1996), we seek to understand the politic of memory as a dissent, putting the consensus in question in order to promote a politic of oblivion throughout Latin America. We try to show that there is a memory politic which manifests itself as a way of resistance and political fight to empower the participation and the political actions of the social movements opposing to a "politic of oblivion" established during the Brazilian dictatorship and redemocratization period which contributes to the deconstruction of the standards imposed by the colonial matrix of power.
