Abstract

ROHM, Ricardo Henry Dias  and  POMPEU, Samira Loreto Edilberto. Homophobia as a determining factor in discriminatory practices towards the production of subjectivities: a study with homosexual people working for companies in Rio de Janeiro. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.30, pp. 347-365. ISSN 1519-549X.

The objective of this research is to describe and analyze which are the mechanisms that contemporary business organizations employ to shape the subjectivities of homosexual subjects from the perspective of the genealogical method which has been specifically developed by Rohm (2003). This study is endorsed by some post-structuralist concepts from philosophers such as Michel Foucault and Félix Guattari. As reflections due to some homophobic discourses within companies, one has found subjects reporting various ways of coping with such discrimination, such as self-denial, fear of coming out, a search for instrumentalisation of technical expertises and even resigning.

Keywords : Homophobia; Organizations; Subjectivity; Genealogy; Diversity.
