MARQUES, Cecília Baruki da Costa  e  DOMINGUES, Eliane. The brazilian national identity in thesis and dissertations: a literature review. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.31, pp. 465-480. ISSN 1519-549X.

This research is part of a study entitled National identity: myths and stereotypes of being Brazilian and its goal is to investigate what featured Brazilian identity in the past, but also what the current marks are, looking for the specificity of a psychological approach. The goal here delimited was to map thesis and dissertations about Brazilian national identity at CAPES (Coordination for Higher Education Staff Development) data bank, with special attention to the production of post-graduation programs in Psychology. Initially, we found 815 abstracts with the expression 'national identity', after selecting, we reached 492 abstracts, from which eight belonged to Psychology programs. The abstracts were categorized and three master degree thesis of psychology were read in full. We conclude, despite the incorporation of new symbols (carnival, football, soap opera, Havaianas) associated with the Brazilian national identity, the past symbols did not disappear (such as literature) as research object of study.
