Abstract

BAIMA, Larissa Soares  and  GUZZO, Raquel Souza Lobo. Psychology training and community practice: questioning the social community psychology in Brazil. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.32, pp. 33-47. ISSN 1519-549X.

This study aims to lead an evaluation of training in Social Community Psychology (PSC) in Brazil. It is understood that the PSC is part of the Psychology critical movement in Latin America. By the survey research technique, it was apprehended data on the general framework of training in psychology and the specific scope of training in PSC by a selection of institutions which offer the psychology undergrad program in the country. A qualitative content analysis subsidized the analysis of PSC disciplines. The results suggest that the presence of PSC in the undergraduate programs does not correspond to a change in the traditional tendency of training in psychology. This study points out the need for a debate about the training in psychology and PSC for the most critically reasoned analysis of the role that this area has played in the Brazilian psychology.
