Abstract

BACELAR, Rafael Prosdocimi  and  CASTRO, Lucia Rabello de. Modes of subjectivization of young people in the webs of environmentalism: a psycho political analysis. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.33, pp. 317-333. ISSN 1519-549X.

In this article we discuss the modes of subjectivization of young residents of Rio de Janeiro engaged in environmental actions, questioning subjective elements, strategies and sociopolitical issues articulated to the ecological field. The defense of nature has become a field of intense social mobilization around the world finding great appeal, especially among young people. We interviewed seven young people with different insertions in the environmental field in the city of Rio de Janeiro. In the analysis of the interviews focused on the articulation of subjective elements and the environmental cause. The emergence of a critical awareness about the effects of human actions on the environment and sensitive involvement of these young people with different ecosystems are seen as conditions for engagement in this cause. We end this paper discussing how the environmental commitment of these young people is constituted as a political struggle promoting egalitarian values in facing the different forms of oppression.
