Abstract

PRIMO, Joana Sampaio  and  ROSA, Miriam Debieux. Friendship and politics: considerations about philía and fraternity. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.33, pp. 377-390. ISSN 1519-549X.

This article articulates the actual vicissitudes of politics through the discussion of friendship, assuming it as a discourse and a practice. With that in mind, we relied on Hannah Arendt's discussion about the meanings of politics in modernity, since this author allows us to locate politics nowadays as State management. As long as she resumes the senses of politics in Ancient Greece, Arendt proposes that politics lies within the action of citizens in the public space, is located, therefore, in the gap in between the ordinary world. From these discussions, we will return to friendship, highlighting the fusion of philia with polis that made happen, since antiquity, its political importance. In modernity, however, with the assertion of Rechtsstaat, fraternity, equality and liberty are understood as universal rights of men, in this context, we intent to admit philía like an articulation possibility to discuss the modern politics.

Keywords : Philia; Psychoanalysis; Modernity; Fraternity; Politics.
