Abstract

Considering that the specialist literature indicates an expansion in the juvenile possibilities of think and act politically, aimed to investigate meanings of political participation constructed by young people and the ways of participation they experience in their daily practice. Therefore, a qualitative research was realized interviewing 15 young people from different social contexts, which revealed a negative association between the politics notion and party politics, marked by a corrupt politicians stigmatized image, leading the young people to a detachment from participation in political and social movements. However, the interviewees also indicated participation expended perspectives, which includes the use of technology, art and culture, besides a greater awareness of their social function with sense of collectivity towards common purposes.
