Abstract

BORGES, Livia de Oliveira et al. National Day of Fight: by media and trade unionists. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.36, pp. 185-206. ISSN 1519-549X.

The research aimed to understand the event National Day of Fight in 2013, July, as the expression of Brazilian labor unionism since the perspective of media and the own trade unionists. That event was planned under the political climate that was generated by the wave of popular protests of the preceding month. We developed documental research of reports in daily newspapers and electronic media and we interviewed two trade unionists. We applied content analysis and identified four categories about the mobilization: Motives, Organization, Results and Evaluation of Movement. About the Motives and the Organization, the divergences between the results of analysis in reference to reports and to interviews are smaller, while they increase in reference to Results and Evaluation of movement. In summary, the results indicate that the National Day of Fight expressed the moment of empowerment to syndical movement, retrieving its focus on broader interests of all citizens.
