Abstract

CHAVEZ, Haydelín Rosa Rodríguez  and  LANDINI, Fernando. Experiences and Good Practices of Gender Equity in the Local Agricultural Innovation Program in the Province of Granma, Cuba. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.37, pp. 335-347. ISSN 1519-549X.

The following article addresses the results of the Program of Local Agricultural Innovation (PIAL). The program contributes to improve the gender equity indicators in rural contexts in the province of Granma, in eastern Cuba, where the program is being implemented in three municipalities. Results were obtained through the implementation of workshops of diagnosis and gender awareness, as well as training sessions in the areas of interest identified during the workshops. PIAL's intervention has allowed peasant women to achieve greater family and community recognition, awareness in family and work environments, employment, leadership and women's empowerment. All this also has led to an increase in the family income, with an important women's economic contribution.

Keywords : Gender; Empowerment; Local Innovation; Rural Development; Cuba.
