Abstract

SAMPAIO, Juliana Vieira  and  MEDRADO, Benedito. Hormones acting controversies: production and risk protection. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.38, pp. 105-120. ISSN 1519-549X.

Hormones, understood as products and as part of processes that produce human dynamics, have acted innumerable practices in our society, including risky practices. We present in this article part of the results of a doctoral thesis in psychology, focusing on the analysis of how these substances appear in biomedical discourse either as risk protectors, as potentialisers or producers of risk. The empirical corpus of this research was configured from 34 videos transmitted by the pharmaceutical industry Bayer, available in its Youtube channel. For the development of these analyzes, we carried out an exercise inspired by cartography of controversies, proposed by Bruno Latour. It was concluded that the administration of hormones is an attempt to control the future, but also as a technology for the control and management of bodies, engendering a series of practices that institutionalize certain modes of subjectivation.

Keywords : Hormones; Risk; Modes of Subjectivation; Controversies, Actants.
