Abstract

CUNHA, Eduardo Leal. Perversion, evilness and recogntion: critical notes on the notion of social perversion. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.40, pp. 607-619. ISSN 1519-549X.

This paper discusses the contemporary use of the social perversion category by trying to briefly demonstrate how the displacement of the perversion category from the sexual field to the sphere of social boundaries happened and by indicating the epistemological, theoretical and ethical problems that go along with its utilization. Afterwards, it proposes the changing of the use of the perverse qualification from the subject or the individual to singular [unique, peculiar] experiences in which we would have to face the limits of what, at each different period of time, we can recognize as human. At last, one tries to link such limits of the recognition of the other as human to the Freudian mechanism of identification and its limits.

Keywords : perversion; social perversion; identification; psychoanalysis; ethics.
