Abstract

FRACCAROLI, Yuri; ARANTES, Vinicius dos Santos  and  ARAGUSUKU, Henrique Araujo. Memory and Political Consciousness: a proposal of theoretical and methodological revision for the field of Political Psychology. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.41, pp. 69-85. ISSN 1519-549X.

Employing a critical reflection on the relations between Political Psychology and social movements as a starting point, while considering both the political commitments of the field itself in Latin America and a historical tradition that transcends its regional context, the article addresses one of the main theoretical models of Latin American psycho-political knowledge: Salvador Sandoval's Political Consciousness model. Concurrently, considering the urgent importance of reflecting on methodological instruments and the Latin American psycho-political field in addition to circumstantial aspects that demarcate and often delimit its research agenda, the article seeks to contribute to the development of the Political Consciousness model by way of a critical examination of how it is utilized in relation to the concept of memory. Often overlooked or disregarded, this concept is an essential component of Sandoval's model, and focuses directly on it when relations with the emotional dimension are considered.

Keywords : Political Consciousness; Memory; Political Psychology; Political Psychology Methods; Political Memory.
