This article deals with documentary research carried out within the framework of the work completion Course Multidisciplinary Residency Program in Adult Health and Aging (HUPAA/UFAL). The central objective of this study is to investigate how social participation is promoted in the Council Manager Location of a Basic Health Unit (BHU), one of practical scenarios residence, located in Maceió/AL. The methodological approach involved a literature review on the subject and documentary research, which aimed to map the characteristics of social participation of the BHU board and analyze how the duties of directors were exercised. It is expected contribute to raising issues and strategies to foster coping problems that prevent effective social participation in the exercise of social control and defense of the UHS.
