Abstract

DIAS, Gustavo Ávila; RAMEH-DE-ALBUQUERQUE, Rossana Carla  and  NAPPO, Solange Aparecida. Harm reduction and public policy for people using drugs: an account to experience on clinical-political-pedagogical training in vocational training. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.42, pp. 353-363. ISSN 1519-549X.

Much has already been written about what is Harm Reduction (HR) and what are its main intervention strategies in the care and / or treatment of people who use alcohol, crack and other drugs. However, students, professionals, and even users and their families question how such strategies can - or even should be - part of the clinical protocols of people who use drugs and how these should be models of care with public policies. There is a lack of clinical and political training on the subject. Faced with this issue, this is an experience report of a Working Group (WG) on HR, experienced in the context of the IX Brazilian Symposium on Political Psychology. In the WG a course plan was used based on active methodologies as pedagogical proposal for clinical and political training of the participants. In an operational way, this experience provided reflections pertinent to professional praxis focused on the scope of public policies on alcohol, crack and other drugs, showing how insinuating and necessary spaces of this nature are possible. Thus, we hope to reflect on theoretical and practical aspects of the HR's clinical and political training in order to contribute to the development of care for people who use drugs in an objective, realistic and pertinent way to the work process of the professionals who with the HR.
