Abstract

PENNA, Fernando de Araujo. The reactionary attempt at censorship in school curricula: understanding the mutual subversion between the logics of socialization and subjectivation. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.43, pp. 557-572. ISSN 1519-549X.

The present article adopts, as a starting point for a theoretical essay, the alleged accusations of ideological indoctrination regarding the "gender ideology" and the "religious indoctrination of candomblé and umbanda". To understand these censorship attempts in school curricula, two strategies were used: a characterization of what would be the reactionary discourse and how it compels us to rethink the theoretical debate about the relationship between education and democracy; and a reconfiguration of the parameters established by Gert Biesta to discuss the concept of "democratic education" through an approximation with the political theory of discourse elaborated by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. The objective is to understand, through this theoretical debate, how attempts at censorship in school proceed.

Keywords : reactionary discourse; democratic education; discourse theory.
