Abstract

RIOS, Roger Raupp  and  RESADORI, Alice Hertzog. Gender and its detractors: "gender ideology" and human rights violations. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.43, pp. 622-636. ISSN 1519-549X.

This article analyzes the phenomenon of "gender ideology" from a legal perspective, identifying the human rights violations perpetrated by this movement. Based on the gender issues and their relation to human rights (first part), the violations of rights are verified (second part). As results, it is demonstrated that (a) the movement "gender ideology" is based on a simplistic understanding about gender; (b) that feminisms and gender studies imply the recognition of rights to all individuals and groups, and in particular women's rights and the LGBTQI population; and (c) that "gender ideology" violates many principles, human and fundamental rights, such as the democratic principle, freedom of expression, freedom of research and education, equality as a prohibition of discrimination based on sex, sexual freedom, human dignity and the right to health.

Keywords : gender; gender ideology; sexuality; human rights; fundamental rights.
