Abstract

BAIMA, Larissa Soares  and  GUZZO, Raquel Souza Lobo. Psychology and social issue: considerations about political projects of Community Psychology throughout its historical trajectory in Brazil. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.44, pp. 65-77. ISSN 2175-1390.

This text aims to offer some contributions to the historical study of Community Psychology in Brazil, problematizing its political connections in the debates about the preoccupation with the social change or with the social function of the psychologists. It has the understanding that Community Psychology represents a historical reality that synthesizes the efforts of psychologists to popularize Psychology, formulate theoretical-methodological models criticai to the traditional models of this science, instrumentalize the critical analysis of the social issue and contribute to social change. Thereby, the text aimed to discuss the centrality of preoccupation with social change as a historically legitimizing element of the field; to defend the existence of a political inflection in the debates around the topic of the social change in its productions; to qualify this inflection as a political retreat; and, finally, to indicate some possible relations between this inflection and the changes in the treatment of the social issue in Brazil.

Keywords : communitypsychology; social change; social issue; marxism; history of psychology.
