Abstract

The purpose of the text was to develop a theoretical reflection about the crisis of representativeness crisis in the present, contextualized from the portrait of two recent movements: the garbageman' strike in 2014 and the truckers ' strike in 2018. With these two examples, it is possible to analyze the crisis of representativeness in two times: in the scenario immediately after the manifestations of June, when the mentioned crisis emerges with full force. Then, in the process that involved Dilma's impeachment now on we noted specific contours of social polarization. In the two cases analyzed, it is possible to observe the detachment of the base from the union leadership as one of the symptoms of the crisis of representativeness. However, between screams of "there will not be cup " (in the case of the garbageman) and "military intervention already" (which was present in the truckers' strike), we have a crisis of representativeness scenario with elements of social polarization.
