Abstract

BARROS, João Paulo Pereira; NUNES, Larissa Ferreira; SOUSA, Ingrid Sampaio de  and  CAVALCANTE, Clara Oliveira Barreto. Criminalization, extermination and incarceration: necropolitics expressions in Ceará. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.46, pp. 475-488. ISSN 2175-1390.

It is intended to discuss modes of incidence of necropolitics in Brazil and its implications in the daily life of peripheral youths in Ceará, based on a research on youth, urban violence and subjectivation processes in the state capital. Three daily expressions of this policy of production and management of the death are highlighted: 1) criminalization and homicide of adolescents and young people 2) mass incarceration; 3) increase of murders of women in the dynamics of urban violence, especially adolescents. The text argues that the necropolitics intersects identity markers of race, gender and class, producing unequal adolescents and youths, some worthy of life and others not. The text ends by emphasizing the importance of psychology in the problematization of the production of annihilation desires and in the potentiation of new modes of subjectivation.

Keywords : Violence; Youth; Racism; Necropolitics; Social Psychology.
