Discriminatory practices may lead to feelings of shame as the individual is recognized in a particular stigmatized social identity. Depending on the markers of race and gender, this process of stigmatization and violence acquires unique characteristics. Thus, the study aims is to analyze, in a intersectional way, the discrimination practices directed at black women in situation of poverty. This research was developed in a capital city of the Northeast and another of the South of Brazil. Using the Episodic Narrative Interview technique and having as analytical procedure the narrative thematic analysis, six black women in situation of poverty were interviewed. It is observed a strong discourse of stigmatization and scapegoating of poverty. Articulated to this stigmatization, there are cases of humiliation and feelings of shame linked to gender issues. The racial issue is not identified as an obvious articulation, but may be the basis for cases of humiliation related to poverty or gender.
