Resumen

CARVALHAES, Flávia Fernandes de; SILVA, Rafael Bianchi  y  LIMA, Alexandre Bonetti. Reflections on discourses about racism in Brazil: considerations of a critical social psychology. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.48, pp. 311-324. ISSN 2175-1390.

The article problematizes narratives that articulate constructed meanings about the theme of racism in Brazil. Initially, we willpresent the theoretical and methodological assumptions that guided this research based on the concept of discourse. The conditions of inequalities that afflict the Brazilian population as well as their consequences in the reproduction of racism are analyzed, being its place in our society problematized from discourses that justify it or seek to cover it ideologically. Thus, we will reflect on the conceptions of habitus and meritocracy as analysts that contribute to build a myth of racial democracy in Brazil as well as to make invisible conditions of subordination and sub-citizenship. We conclude that one way to confront racism in Brazilian day-to-day is articulated through the critical revision of history, as well as through the valorization of scientific productions that are aligned with local, plural knowledge and that seek to undertake transformative actions of the social reality.

Palabras clave : Racism; Discourse; Meaning production; Colonialism; Sub-citizenship.
