Abstract

GORJON, Melina Garcia. The symptoms of coloniality in psychology with the political scenario of the Bolsonaro government. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.50, pp. 74-86. ISSN 2175-1390.

ABSTRACT The paper aims to present some events pointing to the State's action regarding issues that directly affect Psychology in Brazil. Such events may reveal the signs of Coloniality, which is defined as configurations of power that initiated in colonialism and are still present in the knowledge and modes of existence. Thus, the problem of Western hegemonic knowledge in Psychology, the appeasement of racial, social and gender tensions, and the "psychologization" or individualization of oppression issues are discussed. It also addresses the need for privileged persons to question themselves and their social group, the role of Psychology in this matter, as well as the restructuring of psychological theories from a pluralism of knowledge and practices, which embraces decolonial, community and horizontal knowledge.

Keywords : Psychology; Coloniality; Decoloniality; Subjectivity and Feminism.
